Population assessments and area plans

The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act says local authorities and health boards must carry out an assessment of the population. This will highlight the care and support needs in an area.  

The assessments must also set out the range and level of services required to meet those needs.

National population assessment

The National Population Assessment report brings together the main findings of the first population assessment. It provides a comprehensive overview of care and support in Wales.

Area plans

These set out how Local authorities and health boards will meet the needs identified in the population assessments.
